NIGERIA:UNITY GOVERNMENT NOT GOOD

The recent move by the president of Nigeria Umaru Yar'adua to form a unity government involving the ruling PDP and key opposition parties like the ANPP, the AC and the PPA is very worrying. This move is bound to weaken the opposition in Nigeria and make the president more dictatorial.

The president only wants to legitimize his mandate following the controversial April polls in Nigeria.

The acceptance by some members of the opposition of the offer exposes them as political jobbers and men that are not to be trusted by Nigerians.

Nigeria needs sincere, strong and dedicated opposition parties to nurture her democracy
